North Miami Beach, Florida, is located eleven miles north of Miami, in Dade County on Route 1 at Route 826 (NE 170th Street). Founded in the 1890s and incorporated as the City of Fulford in 1927, North Miami Beach took its new name in 1931 upon annexing the ocean side beach property which now forms Sunny Isles Beach. In this city of 40,826 (2000 census) you’ll find a diverse mix of cultures and ethnicities, including people of African-American, White, Hispanic, Pacific Islands and Asian origins. Many local businesses thrive here, and employees also commute to nearby Miami and Miami Beach.

Local attractions include Greynolds Park near the Sunray East neighborhood, with picnic areas, boating, canoeing and an excellent bird watching habitat. The Greynolds Park golf course, a 9-hole par-36, offers play at all skill levels on a 3,100-yard, well-designed layout. Musical concerts and live theatre are offered year-round at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater. Relax in the sun or enjoy water sports of all kinds at Sunny Isles Beach. Take the Route 826 causeway east to the beach.

Residents of North Miami Beach can choose from excellent public, private and charter schools at all grade levels. At the secondary level these include North Miami Beach Senior High School, awarded a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence designation, and private schools such as Allison Academy, and Hillel Community Day School (both K-12).Nearby universities and colleges are Florida International University and Johnson & Wales University, while the University of Miami, Barry University and Miami-Dade College are a short drive south.

North Miami Beach's Camp No-Mi-Be is now accepting registrations for Summer Camp from June 8 to July 31, and will run a Theater Camp from August 10-15, 2009.
