Key Biscayne, Florida, a tropical island paradise just six miles off the coast of Miami, Florida, is a top-notch resort community and leading vacation destination.

Situated in Miami-Dade County, Florida in the United States, Key Biscayne is located on Key Biscayne Island. In 2004, the population was just over 10,000 residents. Key Biscayne lies east of Miami and south of Miami Beach. Bridging the island to the mainland was accomplished in 1947 by the building of the Rickenbacker Causeway.

Developers had tried to build homes on Key Biscayne earlier, but substantial development was made possible by the building of the causeway. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Nature Center is a great place to visit for hands on exhibits for families. Tours include a fossil reef tidal pool and a hammock hike. Not far away is the Miami Seaquarium that features Dolphin Harbor, a place where you can gain first hand encounters with dolphins. Other features include killer whales, endangered sea turtles, sea lions and manatees.
