The Bass Museum of Art is the city’s oldest museum, but in December of each year, Art Basel Miami Beach features 200 galleries and over 1500 artists. There are also several venues for performing arts in the city. The Jackie Gleason Theater has offered many live entertainers for both visitors and residents of Miami Beach for over forty years.

No matter what you are shopping for, you can find it in Miami Beach. The city offers many malls and shopping centers as well as antiques, art, cigars and jewelry.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools serves Miami Beach. There are six elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in the area. As would be expected in any resort area, there are many fine hotels in Miami Beach.

While in Miami Beach, you may wish to visit, Miami Metro zoo, Seaquarium, Everglades, Miami Museum of Science, Miami Children's Museum, Parrot Jungle Island, Monkey Jungle, Coral Castle or Vizcaya. Of course you will not want to spend all of your time inside the museums, also plan to spend a vast majority simply relaxing and soaking in the sun on the beach.

For travel around the city, try renting a bicycle or scooter, or feel free to use the many forms of public transportation.
